Griffin High senior center Jason Foster signed a basketball scholarship to play for Bevill State College.
Bevill State is a community college located in Alabama. I
It’s a great achievement for Foster as he has only been playing basketball for two years. He was recently awarded the 2024 Defensive Player of the Year for region 3-AAAA.
“I want to thank God, my parents and all the coaches at Griffin High, especially coach Moore for believing in me and pushing me to be the best player I can be. When I first came to Griffin I was horrible, I was trash. Coach Moore and Hightower (Jeremy) pushed me and told me to keep working and they pushed me to where I’m today. I’m excited to play at the next level and continue my dream of one day playing professional basketball,” said Foster at his signing ceremony in the Griffin High Library.
Head coach Oscar Moore was happy to see Foster progress to the player he is today. Foster is a 6-feet, 4-inch center that rebounded and blocked shots at a high level for the Bears this season.
“The impact Jason had on the program is irreplaceable on and off the court. Jason is a player that you can tell something one time and he gets it. Right now, he’s playing baseball, and he’s one of the most athletic kids I have ever coached. He will also excel in college because of his academics. The sky’s the limit for him. He will definitely be missed here at Griffin High,” said Moore.
It’s the second consecutive year that Griffin High has had someone sign to play collegiate basketball. Last season Khore Furlow signed with Wabash Valley College.
