Righting the ship with a 2-1 win April 25 over Huntingdon High School was a good next step for a young Henry County High School soccer squad still battling for position in District 14-3A.

The 2-1 win pushed the team record to 6-5-1, highlighted by the team’s early April Smoky Mountain Cup victory in Gatlinburg.

Things got tougher in district play after that though, with the team dropping district matches at home against Clarksville Northwest (4-1 on April 9) and on the road against Clarksville Kenwood (2-0 on April 12).

The Pats, who are 1-3 in district play, won their lone district game at West Creek High School in a 2-1 overtime thriller.

The squad lost 2-0 April 23 at home against Madison High School from Jackson before rallying for the win over Huntingdon.

The Patriots hosted Martin Westview April 30 and hosted Springfield High School May 2. Neither score was available at presstime.

A big match at Kenwood is set to end the regular season on May 6 and help sort out some district standings. West Creek and Northwest lead the district with 3-1 records. Dickson County is 2-2,  and Kenwood and Henry County are locked in at 1-3.
