Following days out due to unprecedented snow and ice, the Tullahoma High School girls' bowling team will get right back to work on Thursday as it takes part in the TSSAA State Tournament.
The Lady Wildcats earned their seat in the state tournament after beating Liberty Creek 23-4 in the sectional round of the playoffs. Tullahoma will open its state tournament on Thursday in Smyrna when it faces Bradley Central at 12:30 p.m.
“I am so proud of our THS Lady Wildcat bowlers and their coaches,” said TCS Director of Schools, Dr.
Catherine Stephens. “Derek Swiger is in his first year of being a head coach, and it is exciting to see the continued success of our bowling programs. I will be keeping my eyes on the scores this Thursday and rooting and cheering for our Lady Wildcats.”
At sectionals, the teams opened with a pair of American 10-pin games. The Lady Wildcats took control early, winning four of the six individual matchups in the first set. Emilee Hewitt led off with a 147-133 victory, before teammate Rachael Mitchell followed by beating her opponent 199-105. Olivia Williams notched a 138-110 win, before Christina Petty added a 129-90 win.
At the end of each 10-pin bowling set, the team with the total pins receives two additional points. Tullahoma led Liberty Creek in total pins, 876-803, to take a 6-2 advantage.
The Lady Wildcats padded their lead with four more wins in the second set and once again led in pins,

Following the opening 10-pin games, the remainder of the match was conducted in a pair of baker games format, in which teams consist of five bowlers, with each individual bowling two frames. Tullahoma swept the baker matches, receiving three points for each victory, to up their lead to 18-4.
