BRADLEY CENTRAL junior Paul Jenkins fired a 2-over-par 38 at the Flagstone Golf Club as the Bear squads swept visiting McMinn County.
After the exciting Don Burke Memorial/Bradley Invitational to open the new TSSAA golf season Monday, one local team was able to get in its first regular season match, but another got washed out.
Bradley Central claimed a pair of victories over the McMinn County link squads Wednesday at Flagstone Golf Club, while Cleveland High's battle with Ooltewah and Sequoyah was rained out Thursday.
Blue Raider head coach Lamar Mills has rescheduled the matchups for next Thursday, at the Cleveland Country Club.
The Bears got matching 2-over-par 38s from juniors Jaxon Chapman and Paul Jenkins to lead the victory over the Cherokees.
Senior Alex Walker and sophomore Jacob Rayfield helped out with 4-over 40s, while 10th-graders Andrew Suttles and Andrew Walker carded 41 and 46, respectively.
Taylor Brady led the Athens squad with a 42.
In the girls matchup, the Bearettes posted an 84 team total with sophomore Colby Ann Turner, who finished third at the season-opening tournament, topping the effort with a 5-over 41.
Classmate Addie Geren and junior Gracie Sermons were clustered close behind with a 43 and 44, respectively.
The lone Lady Cherokee, Rayleigh Hawkins, shot a 45.
"We had a nice day on the links and I saw some improvement from a few of our players," stated Bradley head coach Chuck Clark.
"We had some consistency today and that’s what I like to see. We have some players competing and that is encouraging for the rest of the year."
Bradley and Cleveland will travel to Dayton Country Club Monday to take on Rhea County in a District 5-AA tri-match.
Walker Valley will be back in action Monday as well with Ooltewah and McMinn Central coming to the Flagstone course.
On Wednesday, East Hamilton and McMinn County will battle Bradley at Flagstone, while Walker Valley will journey to the Tennessee Hills course in Pikeville to face Rhea County and Bledsoe County Thursday.
