ETSU baseball once again jumped out to an early lead and had a great day at the plate - but it was not enough to close out Miami (OH) on Friday.

After a 2-0 lead right out of the gate, the Redhawks answered right back on two separate occasions to erase an ETSU lead - eventually taking the lead in the fourth inning. Three Miami home runs helped them to a 6-4 lead that the Bucs couldn't quite come back from.

Although they made it close in the 9th on a JD Yakubinis two-out triple to bring the tying run 90 feet away, a strikeout ended the Bucs attempt to force extra innings.

Despite the loss, it was a good day at the plate as five different Bucs had multi-hit efforts, with two having three-hit outings.

Jace Hyde started the game for ETSU and worked the first three innings. Hyde allowed three runs (one earned) on four hits to go with three strikeouts on the day. Andrew Ronne allowed three runs on four hits in his lone inning of work and was saddled with the loss. Landon Crumbley pitched most of the game for the Bucs and fared well allowing three hits and no earned runs in four innings pitched.

The victory by the Redhawks evens the series at a game apiece, dropping ETSU’s overall record to 33-18 on the season.

The rubber match between the Bucs and Redhawks will be played 11 am on Saturday.
